Mount Kulen Langur Trek

Immerse yourself in Cambodia’s diverse wildlife! This fascinating nature and wildlife trail takes place in Phnom Kulen National Park. Kulen, the birthplace of the Angkorian Empire, predates Angkor Wat by 200 years, and the rocky terrain of forest and hilltop villages hides temples, animal statues, rare animals and birds. The area has a remarkably high biodiversity, including rare Silver Langurs, Pig-tailed Macaques and the Giant Squirrel, and wild pig and muntjac deer are often spotted. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted to see rarities such as the Greater Hornbill, with its meter-wide wingspan.

Your trek starts at the Ministry of Environment station with a local ranger and heads off through Preah Ang Thom, the largest village on Kulen, and the site of Cambodia’s biggest reclining Buddha. Then it’s into the forest, its trees interspersed with strangely formed sandstone boulders. Onwards to the Kulen River and a chance to cool off with a swim. Curious pitcher and sticky carnivorous plants grow where water seeps from the ground along the banks. Emerging onto the forest highway, you head back to Preah Ang Thom. The perfect end to a day hiking in the Cambodian forest is a power shower under the Kulen Falls.

Floating Villages Kayaking Adventure

Visit the amazing floating village at Peek Toal, where 2000 families live at the mouth of the Sangke River. Nearby the 22,000 ha Core Bird Reserve is home to one of the largest colonies of water-birds in SE Asia. It is truly a bird watcher’s Heaven.

A delicious local lunch will be prepared for you on the Saray Platform, a women’s initiative to help provide alternative incomes.

There are also options on this tour for an upgraded home-stay in a floating house, so that you can be in the Core Bird Reserve at dawn – the best time for bird watching.

Floating Villages Boat Trip

Experience life in a Floating Village! This very special trip starts with a visit to an unspoiled floating community called Kampong Phluk, known for its stilted-house villages and flooded forest. Stopping at the local Rolous Market along the way gives you the opportunity to sample the everyday life of local people selling indigenously grown vegetables, locally caught fish and other produce.

Then it’s time to board a boat and relax as you journey down the tranquil river, eventually arriving at the floating community of Kampong Phluk. Here you’ll experience a truly unique way of life. Houses, schools, pagodas and even a fish farm all stand on 8 to 10m high stilts. You’ll continue beyond the villages to head into the flooded forest, the natural habitat of some of Cambodia’s water-bird species.

Finally, the boat will then set off for the largest fresh water lake in SE Asia, Tonle Sap, where you can spend time exploring, before heading back to the mainland.

Birding Adventure (On Land)

Bring your waders to see the Waders! This on-land birding adventure takes place a short distance from Siem Reap on a diverse marsh land habitat with paddy fields, ponds, bushes, and grassland. The marsh land stretches along the edge of the great Tonle Sap Lake where many species of waders including Pintail Snipe, Oriental Pratincole, Jacana, Swamphen, bitterns, egrets, herons, and waterfowls can be seen. It’s possible to spot around 40 different species of common birds during this exciting trip.

Countryside Biking Adventure

Is there any better way to travel than by bike? Simple, efficient, fast enough to get you places but slow enough to take in the awe-inspiring scenery of the Cambodian country-side.

This tour passes past paddy fields and traditional villages of wooden slit houses where you can truly get a feel for local life. Our guide can adjust this tour according to your desire and experience level – it can be a relaxed, gentle ride for a few kilometres, or for those who want to explore some of Siem Reap’s less visited areas, we can organise longer and more challenging trips.

Hidden Cambodia Remote Temple Tours

Explore the remote hidden temples of Cambodia and be transported back in time! There are many incredible temples outside Siem Reap just waiting to be discovered. These temples usually have more character, are less busy, and give you a sense of what the temples would have felt like hundreds of years ago.

On our Secret Temple Tour, we visit the incredible temple sites of: Kulen Mountain, Banteay Srei, Banteay Chhmar, Beng Mealea, Koh Ker, Preah Vihear, Preah Khan, and Sambour Prei Kuk. If you don’t have enough time for them all, one of our travel experts can help you choose single temple visits that you can add to your Cambodian holiday adventure itinerary.

Banteay Chhmar Adventure & Home Stay

This authentic home stay tour allows you to really experience living like a local! Your day starts after breakfast, when you leave Siem Reap towards Odar Meachey province. After lunch and settling into your home stay, your guide will take you to explore the Banteay Chmar temple as well as the Ta Prohm temple, featured in the ‘Tomb Raider’ film.

For hundreds of years, the temples have remained virtually untouched, and nature has now reclaimed ownership of the ruins, winding herself around the broken structures. Despite being lesser known, Banteay Chmar is Cambodia’s 4th largest temple and has some of the most interesting carvings. You be able to spend time unravelling the bas reliefs of Angkorian life and admiring the untouched carvings.

Afterwards, you’ll be taken on an ox cart tour through a local village, stopping at a silk centre where you can buy silk handicrafts. Finally, you’ll head back to your home stay to enjoy a traditional dinner in a local temple lit by wooden torches.

Tree House Jungle Adventure & Zipline Ride

Try a real Cambodian Eco-Adventure, spiced up with a Zip-line Ride! This tour is customisable, so if you particularly like birds, we can wake you up early for the morning bird-chorus. For bug lovers, we can take you out at night and look under every leaf. There are kilometres of lush jungle trails for hikers to explore, and for wildlife enthusiasts, we can help you spot the endangered banteng, pileated gibbons and silver langurs.

If you are a thrill seeker, you’ll love an exhilarating Zipline Ride over the saddle of the mountain and back again (each over 300m long, taking in views over the forest). Then a short hike to Prasat Preah Puol at the top of the mountain, where there is a small temple ruin from the Angkorian period. After spending some time exploring, you’ll trek over the top to the mountain “ridge” where you can hike some more, overlooking a huge expanse of Dry Dipterocarp Forest.

Or, if you prefer, just hang out in your hammock watching the trees, reading a book and relaxing in pure nature.
